The roots of Kasba civilization stretch back in time to pre-recorded history. Years ago the whole area was covered with the long green grass called KASHAL (Mainly used for making huts) the name Kasba comes from that.

There is a myth that due to the dense forests in this area it was favored place for the dacoits (Dakoos or looters) to hide their booty. It is true, in past few years lot of peoples came across those valuable items while they diged their fields or backyards.

The generation of Kasba migrated from Aarah a dist of Bihar. Kasba was then the business hub for northern states. People from neighboring cities used to buy Rice, jute and iron. The popularity of kasba was so famous that Calcutta Radio used to broadcasted prices for these items.

Women played a vital role in the production of rice from paddy. Most of the houses had DEKHI, a tool operated by foot used for production of rice. Women were financially strong and self-dependent.

Another interesting fact is that Kasba is the only place where the marriages take places in the month of sawan (rainy season).

As business come to a stand still during rainy season due to floods in the neighboring cities, people try and built up their personal relationship by marriage.
